Another shade that I think is great for fall, Metro Chic

This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Metro Chic (from this haul) over my Revlon Multi Care Top + Base coat.

I will admit although there are rave reviews about this colour, I originally picked it for my mani not only because it's a fall colour but also because I thought it was bland and therefore I'd be less tempted to stare at my nails. I was definitely wrong with that judgement, this colour is interesting!

Coming up soon are more mini-hauls and a year in movies review.

Mini Haul: September 28, 2013

Had to do some exploring of the shops around my new apartment, and ended up with a mini-haul!

The Perfect Pair of Orly polish was found at Winners for $9.99, as a huge fan of Orly's formula and colour selection, I had to pick up these gorgeous shades!
The Rimmel London Scandaleyes Pencil (in Witness White) was on sale at Shopper's Drugmart for $4.99. I've heard great things about these pencils and wanted to try out the white one as an eyeshadow base (since NYX Milk is not readily available near me).

The Orly on the left is Opposites Attract (a magnetic polish, my first) its a deep blue based purple with silver flecks, perfect for winter!
The Orly on the right is Beautiful Disaster (I think from a Kelly Clarkson collection?), I love this shade of purple, just enough pink and just enough purple!

Have you picked up anything lately?

Another simple mani but still fun I think

This is 2 coats of Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish in Styled Out (from this haul), I used Orly Top2Bottom as the base and top coat for this mani (Styled Out dries semi-matte).

I actually really liked this colour, it is very denim-like and think it would nicely compliment jeans.  It was also easy to work with and dried pretty fast (not sure if that is consistent for all Maybelline Color Show polish or just this particular one).  I will definitely have to check out more of this brand!

What are your suggestions for Maybelline Color Show polish to try out?

NOTD: September 19, 2013

Today was a nice day, felt almost like summer again, so I opted for a summery pink mani

This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI I'm Wired (from this haul) on the middle and ring fingers and 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Access 24/7 (from this haul) on my index and pinky fingers. I used Orly Top2Bottom as the base and top coat for this mani.

I'm not normally a huge fan of corals, but I really like I'm Wired, I find it's very flattering on my skin tone.

What colours scream summer to you?

NOTD: September 14, 2013

Happy weekend!  There might be a break in posts for a while as I move into my new place and get settled in (and the internet figured out), so bear with me!  A break from the vampy looks, here's a purple and blue mani!

This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI I Don't Bite (from this haul) with 2 coats of Julep Millie as the accent (from my May Julep Box) I used my Orly Top2Bottom as the base and top coat of this look.

I'm loving the purple metallic of I Don't Bite (plus the name is just too funny!) and think Millie is a perfect navy blue crème!

If you're interested in signing up for Julep Maven (which is awesome, $19.99 for 3 products a month, with the option to choose which of the 5 style profiles you want to receive any month and no hassle to skip a month) please use my referral link here.

I'm thinking of doing some my collection type posts to show off my make-up hoard, it would likely include swatches (except for nail polish), and mini reviews, would you be interested in reading those?

Today's look goes well with the fall transition!

I actually really enjoyed this NOTD even though I'm generally not a fan of red.  This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Sample Sale with Sephora by OPI I'm With Brad as the accent nail (can't see it on the nail, but can see it in the bottle in this picture, a deep red with shimmer) over my Revlon Multi-Care Top and Base Coat.

Sample Sale is a perfect Christmas red with shimmer to it, love!
I'm With Brad is a nice vampy red and when the light hits it the right way the shimmer is ah-mazing!

I got both of these polish from this haul, and definitely want more of these Sephora by OPI sets!

What colours have you incorporated in your transition to fall?

NOTD: September 9, 2013

You've probably already figured out the purple is one of my fav colours, so here's a purple NOTD!

This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Just a Little Dangerous (from this haul) over my Orly Top2Bottom base coat. Excuse the messiness this mani was done in a hurry!

I love the vampy-ness of this purple with just a hint of shimmer (it was hard to capture in the picture) and think this is a great fall/winter purple that I'll be using more of when the weather turns colder.

Any recommendations for other great purples?

August Empties

Sorry it's been so long since my last post, I've had internet issues and have been crazy busy with work.  I did better this month! Used up 5 full-sized products!

L to R: Quo Luxury Cotton Pads, Bic Silky Touch Razors

Quo Luxury Cotton Pads: these are the nicest cotton pads I've used yet! These have one side without texture (just smooth, perfect for nail polish removal) and the other side with ridges that are great for make-up removal! Seriously soft, no lint (which means no mess from nail removal unless it's glitter) and not bad for the price (I think I got these on sale at Shoppers for $2 for the package). I will definitely repurchase these cotton pads!

Bic Silky Touch Razors: these are my fav razors! It might be because they come in cute colours but I also like that they're only 2 bladed razors since that is generally all I need

Andrea Eye-Qs Makeup Remover Pads in Moisturizing

Andrea Eye-Qs Makeup Remover Pads in Moisturizing: I picked these up from this haul here. Loved the price ($5 for both these and the q-tips!). These are effective at removing eye makeup, but they are very greasy and leave a film everywhere that I need to wipe off with Kleenex and wash my face after using. I think if I decide to pick these up I'll opt for the Sensitive version to see if that's less greasy and irritating for my eyes.

L to R: Sunsilk ThermaShine Conditioner, Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Stress Relief Body Wash and Foam Bath in Vanilla Verbena

Sunsilk ThermaShine Conditioner: I'm not a big user of conditioner in general, I use it about once a week or before straightening my hair.  I got this a while back (probably 4 years ago....) I don't believe SunSilk is still available for sale in Canada, but let me know if I'm wrong.  This doesn't smell particularly nice, it's just the typical soap smell.  I didn't find this made my hair shiny-er, but I also didn't notice any heat damage to my hair (although the use of heat is quite infrequent). I wouldn't buy this again, but because smell is important to me not because I thought this was a bad product.

Bath and Body Works Aromatherapy Stress Relief Body Wash and Foam Bath in Vanilla Verbena: I got this as a Christmas gift a couple of Christmases ago and finally used it up. I love the smell of this body wash, just pure vanilla.  This lathers well so I used it for shaving as well as normal body wash.  I did find that the smell helped relieve tension and calm me (but who's stressed in the shower anyways?).  I would definitely repurchase this body wash, it's one of my favs!

What products did you love in August?
