NOTD: January 29, 2016

This dazzling gold mani is butter London The Old Bill. I used butter London Nail Foundation as my base, 2 coats of The Old Bill and topped it off with Orly Top2Bottom.

I like this one! I don't do gold/bronze manis often enough!

What colours do you need to incorporate more of?

My Fav NOTD from 2015

Keeping up with the theme of reflecting on 2015, I wanted to pick out my top 10 fav NOTDs from 2015! Again in order from oldest to newest!

Sephora Formula X A+ with nails inc. Old Bond Street (original post). Spunky and fun!

Glam Polish Isengard (original post). Love the name, love the colour, and the holo is breathtaking!

Deborah Lippmann It's Raining Men with Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow (original post). Super classy and can't believe it's a one coater!

Anna Sui Minnie Mouse 300 Nail Colour N (original post). Cute and sweet!

Wet N' Wild Cosmopolitan with butter London Jack the Lad (original post). Surprising that this throwback drugstore polish goes so well with a high end one!

Arcane Lacquer Erudite Charm (original post). Love the name and the combination here!

Sephora by OPI All That Jasmine with Sephora by OPI Havana Dreams with Sephora by OPI Your Wish Is My Command (original post). A super summery skittlette NOTD, plus Your Wish Is My Command has to be one of my favourite colours!

Deborah Lippmann Through The Fire (original post). Classic and elegant. Love.

Color Club Lady Holiday with nails inc. George Street (original post). Color Club Lady Holiday makes the Fav list again! I just love this grey polish, so versatile and understated!

Seche Nostalgic with Julep Judi (original post). Another one-coater makes the list! Vampy purples (or really purples of any kind) are usually my fav once the weather gets cold!

More indies, more single colour NOTDs, more variety in brands! I think 2015 NOTDs were pretty diverse if I do say so myself!

What was your favourite NOTD for 2015?

NOTD: November 9, 2015

This fall-friendly manicure is a butter London set I picked up last year (from this haul). I used butter London Nail Foundation as my base, 2 coats of butter London Tramp Stamp, 1 coat of butter London The 444 on the accent, and Orly Top2Bottom as the topper.

Tramp Stamp is a lot more red in the bottle, but as you can see here, more brown on the nail.

NOTD: July 4, 2015

For this mani I started with Butter London Nail Foundation (since I was scared of staining with blue and green polish). I then used 2 coats of Wet N' Wild Cosmopolitan and Butter London Jack the Lad and topped them with NYC Matte Me Crazy.

I thought these two colours went together quite well, and mattifying them brought out the shimmer!

What are your plans for the long weekend?

June Empties!

And through June the toothpaste trend continues!

L to R: Crest Complete Whitening + Scope Cool Peppermint, Butter London Powder Room Acetone-Free Lacquer Remover

Crest Complete Whitening + Scope Cool Peppermint: I really liked this toothpaste, the lighter gel texture that I usually prefer plus it's effective at freshening breath!

Butter London Powder Room Acetone-Free Lacquer Remover: As you can see, there is still a bit left in the bottle, however this last couple of mms is completely ineffective on even the most basic cream polishes. It wasn't always like that and did a decent job at non-glitter polish removal. However, at the price point I expect to be able to remove all types of polish! Therefore I will not be repurchasing.

L to R: Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes, Wet N' Wild Fast Dry Top Coat

Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes: I didn't find this stung my eyes as much as remembered in this review. However I do still prefer Neutrogena wipes.

Wet N' Wild Fast Dry Top Coat: This still has 1/3 of the top coat left, however it is a gloopy, thick, stringy mess now. Basically unusable unless I want to wreck my nails. Before it turned into this mess it was a great top coat, really fast drying and shiny! I would likely repurchase the full-size when I finish up my backlog of top coats currently on hand!

What products did you use up in June?

NOTD: December 7, 2014

This is definitely a classic mani! This is 2 coats of butter London Petrol Pink (from this haul) which looks a bit more silver in the bottle, but more reddish pink on the nail. It's still beautiful though and super flattering for my skin tone!

I started this mani with NYC Matte Me Crazy as the base and topped with Revlons Multi-Care Base+Top Coat.

This look is perfect for a fancy Christmas party or just hanging out around home!

Labour Day Finds!

I did some more shopping....

L to R: Anna Sui Minnie Mouse, Lise Watier Topaze, Sparitual Intellect, Sparitual Strike a Pose, butter London Petrol Pink

I hauled these polish at my local Winners for $38! I couldn't resist the cuteness that is Anna Sui's Minnie Mouse bottle, and I knew from Vampy Varnish's swatches that the colour was unique for my collection. I will also get to try 2 new to me brands of nail polish: Anna Sui and Lise Watier! I'm sure you'll be seeing reviews/NOTDs with these shortly!

What deals did you find over Labour Day?

NOTD: May 19, 2014

My Victoria Day mani hails from good ole England! This is two coats of butter London Primrose Hill Picnic over my butter London Nail Foundation and topped with my Revlon Multi-Care Base+Top Coat.

Really a great medium pink, think this colour would be flattering on most skin tones!

Happy long weekend!

NOTD: April 4, 2014

Yay for blues! This is two coats of butter London Artful Dodger over butter London Nail Foundation with Revlon Multi-Care Base+Top Coat to top it off.

The colour wasn't exactly what I was expecting it's more smoky and grey than I thought, but I like it overall!

NOTD: Match 16, 2014

This mani is 2 coats of butter London Branwen's Feather (from this haul) over my butter London Nail Foundation and under my Revlon Multi-Care Base+Top Coat.

This colour is a great autumn/winter colour, but I don't think I'll get much use out of it once spring finally arrives. I also wish the shimmer in the bottle was more evident on the nail.

These were all on sale, the nails inc and Kat Von D I picked up from the clearance section of Sephora, and I snapped up the 100 pt Origins mask while there. The butter London I found at Winners and couldn't resist these wintery shades!

My Valentine's Day mani is a gorgeous sparkling rose gold! This is 2 coats of butter London Rosie Lee over my butter London Nail Foundation. To smooth out the grittiness I used a top coat of Revlon Multi-Care Base+Top Coat.

I have been crazy busy at work lately, but it should settle down within the next couple of weeks.

December 1, 2013 Haul!

A few weeks back I did a one-day shopping trip in the States with a friend, these are the goodies I came back with!
L to R front row: Nails Inc. Topping Lane, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Maya, Sephora Collection False Eyelashes in Paparazzi
L to R back row: Butter London Backstage Basics, Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV, Wet N' Wild Mini Fast Dry Nail Collection

This is Nails Inc. special effects nail polish in Topping Lane, isn't it adorable! Found this is the clearance section of a local Shoppers Drugmart for $5, not bad considering Sephora sells this brand for $11.50 a bottle!

Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Maya, I have a mini of Trooper (the black shade), and it helped me overcome my fear of liquid eyeliners, so when I found Maya (chocolate brown) for sale for $4.99 at Sephora in JCP I snatched it up immediately! I love this eyeliner, I was slightly worried that it would be dried up since it was in the clearance section, but it isn't! Gorgeous chocolate brown shade perfect for a more work appropriate cat eye!

Sephora Collection False Eyelashes in Paparazzi, were also kicking around the clearance section of Sephora in JCP for $2.99! I couldn't resist, even though I've yet to wear them. I'll have to figure out more places to go to get some use out of these!

Butter London Backstage Basics set includes L to R: Hardwear PD Quick Dry Topcoat, Nail Foundation Flawless Basecoat, Powder Room Lacquer Remover, Rosie Lee, and a nail file.

I'd been humming and hawing on this set for a while, the Canadian price always seems too high, so when I was browsing a Macy's and I was told there were only 2 more of this set left, I grabbed it and proceeded to figure out which polish I'd add.  Rosie Lee has been on my list for a while, and I don't have other rose gold type polishes so that's what I went with!

Wet N' Wild Mini Fast Dry Nail Collection Includes: Everybody Loves Redmond, The Gold & the Beautiful, SaGreena the Teenage Witch, Saved by the Blue, Buffy the Violet Slayer, Silvivor, Party of Five Glitters, and Clear Coat

This was $9.99 at Wegman's and since Wet N' Wild are scarce here in Canada I picked it up.  My experience so far is quite positive, as the colours I've tried have been fast-drying and pretty long-wearing! This set would be a great gift for a nail polish lover or a teenager just getting into makeup!

Finally from Ulta I picked up the new Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV, isn't it gorgeous?

It includes 16 eye shadows, liquid eyeliner in black, a deluxe size mascara, a deluxe size primer potion, and a mini-speaker key chain.

I'm loving the eye shadows here and finally understand why everyone raves about the quality and creaminess of these shadows! I also like that this is a more neutral palette, since I don't find myself using bright colours too often for eye shadow.

What have you picked up lately?

Thanks for reading!

August 09, 2013

NOTD: August 9, 2013

Another vibrant NOTD!

Alright, excuse the messiness on my ring finger, Julep Eden wasn't playing nice.
This look was 2 coats Butter London Scouse (from this haul) over my Orly Top2Bottom Coat (from this haul) with 2 coats Julep Eden (from my April Julep Maven box, more about Julep here) as the base.  Eden dried matte for me so I put my Orly Top2Bottom Coat over all nails as well.

I'm loving Scouse but Eden was a disappointment for me, it's more blue than I expected and it dries darker than it looks.

This weekend I've got a lot of shopping to do to get ready for my new apartment, not much else special going on here.  What are you up to this weekend?

Thanks for reading!

NOTD: July 2, 2013

Today's NOTD, nail polish was bought in this haul

This is butter London Billy No Mates.  I used my Orly Top2Bottom as the base, and this nail polish was so shiny on its own I didn't use a top coat!
This nail polish was great to work with, 2 coats are pictured, but as you can see it definitely emphasised the ridges on my nails.  I really want the butter London Nail Foundation, so maybe that would've helped the ridges?
Definitely a spring colour and well worth the luxury price!

Do you own any luxury nail polish? Which brand is your fav?

June 12, 2013

Haul: June 12, 2013

Planned myself another big haul! Went to 2 Winners and a Shoppers Drugmart, here's what I found!

Starting with nail polish:

From L to R: Orly Gumdrop, butter London Billy No Mates, butter London Scouse, Orly Angel Eyes, Essie Buy Me a Cameo

These were all on sale to varying degrees, the butter London were $12.99 each (compared to the usual price of $17 I couldn't resist!), Orly Gumdrop was $5.99, Orly Angel Eyes was $2.99, and Essie was $7.99 (I know it's cheaper in the states, but in Canada Essie is usually $11 - a big rip-off).

So far I've only tried Gumdrop, which is almost exactly a Tiffany blue, I love it! Very different from anything else I own, and I'm thinking it will go well with Revlon Whimsical.

Makeup and skincare:

From L to R: Vichy Normaderm Salicylic Acid Lotion, Bioderma PP Baume, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in Nude Lustre, Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Temptress, Maybelline Color Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded, Bioderma Sensibio H2O Cleanser

The Vichy and Bioderma products were actually samples, the nice lady at the beauty counter gave them to me, I've never received samples at Shoppers before but apparently you can!

The deal was to buy 2 Revlon lip products and get 2000 bonus Optimum points, since I've been wanting to add more lipstick into my beauty routine, I decided on Temptress

As you can see it's a beautiful medium pink.  Since I have fuller lips, I'm a bit intimidated by lip colour, so this should help me start to get out of my comfort zone!

I picked out Nude Lustre since most of my lipglosses are pink or very shimmery, so I thought this would also be a nice change.  I think it has enough colour to it not to make my lips look dead, but I haven't tried it out so we'll see!

I've been hearing rave reviews over at MakeupTalk for a while about how awesome the Maybelline Color Tattoos are, and they were on sale this week so I picked up Barely Branded, which I've heard can be used as a base as well as alone.  The colour is a bit lighter than I was expecting, but it definitely lasted a long time without creasing so far in my experience!

What do you think of this haul? Any drugstore product recommendations for me?
