Freebies Haul!

I got some great freebies last week! Check them out!

L to R: Dior Make-up bag, Clinique Make-up bag, Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena Body Lotion, Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena Volumizing Shampoo

Back row L to R: Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+, Clinique All About Shadow Duo 16 Day Into Date, Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo Daybreak
Front row L to R: Clinique High Impact Mascara Black, Clinique Almost Lipstick Luscious Honey

So how did I get this all free?

Dior: my mother and I attended a Dior event at The Bay in which I learnt a lot more about make-up, the mua running it was definitely knowledgeable.  My mom ended up making a pretty large purchase (and me the make-up addict of the family restrained herself) and received this gorgeous bag (it has charms on it!) along with several deluxe samples.  I allowed my mom and sister to keep the samples and I scored with this bag! It is likely one of the more high quality make-up bags I own!

Clinique: my friend is a Clinique devotee and after her last purchase I had asked what GWP she'd received, she made another purchase soon after and I ended up with this GWP! Isn't she the best friend?!?

Bath and Body Works: I stayed at a Holiday Inn for a friend's out-of-town wedding and noticed that BBW were the makers of the shampoo and lotion so I snatched these up to try later!

From the bright to the neutral!

This is 2 coats of Orly Nite Owl (from this haul) over my Revlon Multi Care Base + Top Coat.

I love Nite Owl! It seems like a neutral, but it has so much sparkle to it that it is not close to boring!

What neutals do you love?

NOTD: October 25, 2013

So this definitely isn't fall appropriate, but I needed a fun and bright mani, so here it is!

This is 2 coats of Color Club Bright Night (from this haul) with 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Caliente Coral (from this haul) as the accent.  This is all over my Revlon Multi Care Base + Top Coat.

As you can see the Color Club has done this weird separating thing which can make the nails look a bit blue tie-dyed.  Any thoughts on how to fix this separation? Shaking doesn't help.

Just for fun here's my right hand.  Excuse the awkward pose.

Johnson & Johnson Haul!

I'm lucky enough to have a family member working at Johnson & Johnson who can get me discounted products, so without further ado here's my pretty massive J&J haul!

Back row L to R: Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushions, ROC Repairing Lip Care, Benadryl Nighttime, Reactine Extra Strength, Polysporin Daily Lip Care

Middle row L to R: Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream, ROC Soft Smoothing Scrub, ROC Double Action Eye Make-up Remover, Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo, Aveeno Positively Nourishing Shine Conditioner, Neutrogena All-in-One Make-up Removing Cleansing Wipes (x2)

Front row L to R: Tylenol Cold Daytime, Tylenol Cold Nighttime, Benadryl Allergy, Clean & Clear Splash Wildberry & Guava Morning Burst Body Wash, Johnson's Baby Shampoo

So I haven't had a chance to try everything here so far, but I do have some favs among them!

ROC Repairing Lip Care: this is a repurchase, and one of my favourite lip balms on the market! I just wish it was scented!

Aveeno Positively Nourishing Moisturize Shampoo: I actually have oily hair so I was a bit scared of this one. OMG, my hair has never felt softer! Even without any conditioner! This also helped calm my irritated scalp, so even more points!

Neutrogena All-in-One Make-up Removing Cleansing Wipes: I've bought these before, easy to use on those nights you're in a rush and also feel soothing to the skin!

Johnson's Baby Shampoo: I bought this to use as a brush cleaner substitute, and I loved the results I got! Lots of foam and helped soften my make-up brushes! Not to mention I think this did a better job cleaning my brushes than other brush cleaners I've tried in the past!

Have you tried any of these products? Have any recommendations for J&J brand products I should try?

I had a Tight & Bright themed party to attend recently, and I thought what could be more fitting than using a colour from Julep's neon-themed box paired with an equally bright orange?

For this mani I used 2 coats of Julep Gloria and 2 coats of Julep Abbie as the accent over my Revlon Multi-Care Top + Base coat (the yellow still ended up staining my nails, so I'll have to remember 2 coats of base for next time).

I loved how bright this mani was! Definitely not work appropriate, but great for a fun night out!

What colours would you have used for a tight and bright mani?

Julep Maven October Box

As I've mentioned before, I'm a Julep Maven (see this post).  For October I cashed in some of my Jules for a free box!
This month I opted for Bombshell. As I've mentioned before Julep makes it easy to switch between their 5 style profiles (Classic With a Twist, Bombshell, Boho Glam, It Girl, and Modern Beauty)

Back row L to R: Eyeliner Sharpener, Valerie, Cleopatra
Front row: Kajal Eyeliner

Overall I was really happy with this month's box, loved these 2 polish colours, and the eyeliner is excellent at tightlining!

This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI Ms. Can't Be Wrong (from this haul) with 1 coat of Julep Barbara (from this haul) as the accent.  I used Revlon Multi-Care Base + Top Coat as the base and top coat for this look.

I love this vampy red with hints of pink of purple in it! Perfect for fall!

A gold mani to match the fall shades!

This is 2 coats of Julep Amber over my Revlon Multi-Care Top and Base Coat.  This is another of the polish I bought during Julep's warehouse sale (see haul here).

I love the colour, but mostly how quick matte polish dries!

What are your fastest drying nail polish?

October 16, 2013 Haul

Look at all my pretties! This is a haul from Bath and Body Works and The Bay!

L to R: Pink Chiffon Triple Moisture Body Cream and Pink Chiffon Shimmer Body Mist

The deal here was buy 2 get 1 free, and I was there picking up a gift for a friend, so I ended up expanding my collection of Pink Chiffon products (I also own the Body Mist).  I LOVE this scent, perfect blend of vanilla and fruits.  Absolutely delectable!

L to R: Philosophy Raspberry Sorbet Lip Gloss, Philosophy Hope in a Jar, Givenchy Very Irresistible, Givenchy Very Irresistible Electric Rose

The item in the back is a cute iPad case, all of these items were free as part of a Philosophy GWP deal at The Bay (my sister spent the $65, and I racked up goodies!).  I love Philosophy lip gloss and basically all the fruity scents in general so I'm happy to have expanded my lip gloss collection here! There was also a promotion with a large number of Givenchy perfume samples in bowls, so I picked up 2 to try out.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Effect Refining Cream

This was in the clearance section of The Bay for $22!  This is still offered for sale at Sephora for $66 so I was happy to snatch up this bargain and try out this brand!

Here's a bright purple mani!

This is 2 coats of Sephora by OPI What a Broad (from this haul) with 1 coat of Sephora by OPI It's Bouquet With Me (from this haul) on the accent nail.  I used Revlon Multi-Care Top + Base Coat before applying.

As a big purple fan, I love this look.  What a Broad is a great medium purple that I think can be worn in all seasons.

What colours do you like to wear no matter the season?

September Empties

Used up more items this month! *Pat on the back* Without further ado, here are my thoughts on my empty products

Dove Damage Therapy Conditioner in Nectarine and White Ginger: I bought this at least 2 years ago (I'm not a regular conditioner user...bad I know).  I bought this more based on the scent than the actual claims.  My hair is actually pretty healthy and not in need of much damage control.  However, I loved the scent of this conditioner! So fruity and sweet, I even went out and bought the matching shampoo! This made my hair feel super soft, but I don't think it did much to deal with my frizzyness and puffiness (which it doesn't claim to help).  Still I will likely repurchase just based on how much I love the scent!

Softsoap Body Butter Strawberry Scrub: I bought this a year back in the hopes that it would exfoliate and moisturize my body in the shower.  The scent is okay, pretty much as it's described, however I did not find this very effective at exfoliating and it was too harsh to use in conjunction with shaving.  Therefore I will likely not repurchase this product.

L to R: Quo Brush Cleanser, Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover, Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in Light

Quo Brush Cleanser: I bought this last summer, and used this cleanser daily for my foundation brush and gel eyeliner brush, and as needed for my other less frequently used powder based brushes.  I thought this did a great job removing dirt and product from the brushes and it doesn't have a strong smell. I have already repurchased this in the bigger size and recommend any Canadian makeup lovers check this out at their local Shoppers

Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover: I received this deluxe sample in my Sephora ItKit order last year (that was one of the best promo codes ever!).  This is hands down the best makeup remover I've tried! Does a great job removing all makeup without too much scrubbing and it doesn't leave behind a greasy film.  I will likely repurchase this in the future (but at $35 I'll make sure there's a good GWP going on).

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream in Light: I received this sample free from Sephora's VIB week (haul here).  I got about 5 or 6 uses out of this packet (but I prefer a lighter foundation look, so others might have got less uses).  This was actually the right colour for my skin, and I liked the overall look of this BB Cream.  I also like that this offers SPF 35, with fair skin that burns easily this is a selling feature for me.  I'm not sure yet whether I'll purchase this since I'm looking at trying out a number of other BB Creams and tinted moisturizers before deciding, but I did like the way this looked and felt on my skin, so it is definitely a contender!

What products did you use up in September?
